Today is a special edition of Works for Me Wednesday. It is things to help with the, "Mommm, I'm Bored!!!!" I have a fun calendar of things to do with kids, starting this Friday. These are simple, small things that most children can do.
June--
6th- Have a toothpick picnic at the park
7th- Fun Day
8th- Choose Day
9th- Make an appointment to interview your dad. Think of 10 questions.
10th- Read the comics from Sunday's paper and sip a cool drink.
11th- Write at least one page in your journal. Keep going if you want to.
12th- On a long paper, write what Dad has done for you. Draw or cut our pictures to glue on.
13th- Spenc time with Dad. Show you love him by doing one chore for him today.
14th- Flag Day. Put up a flag and read about why we have flag day.
15th- Father's Day! Give Dad breakfast in bed (with a love & kiss)
16th- Call a friend from school
17th- Do a Pixie for someone in your family. Keep it a secret.
18th- Smile all day today!
19th- Lay on the grass on your back and look for shapes in the clouds.
20th- Read a book aloud to someone younger then yourself.
21st- Tell Grandma you are hers for one hour--whatever she needs you'll do.
22nd- Choose Day
23rd- Name all the different ways to keep cool. Have a shower bath.
24th- Write a letter to a friend.
25th- How many chews does it take to chew up a Tootsie Roll? Tell mom your answer.
26th- Wash the car. Eat lunch together and go for a swim.
27th- Play basketball
28th- Ask Dad what chore he need you to do for him today.
29th- Choose day
30th- Set up a treasure hunt for the kids. Mom will provide the treat.
July
1st- Play a scarey story for our trip to Donut Falls
2nd- Go lizard hunting today
3rd- Read a story in the July Friend and share it with your family.
4th- Sing Happy Birthday USA. Wear Red, White, & Blue and go to a parade. Sparklers!
5th- Go to the librarytoday and check out books.
6th- Choose Day
7th- Play on the school playground. Take a fun snack.
8th- Make dinner from a recipe in the Friend.
9th- Read a story or book with music in the background.
10th- Work on a merit badge for at least one hour.
11th- Read for 15 min. Come get a treat from Mom.
12th- Pull 15 weeds today. Smile as you do it.
13th- Choose Day
14th- Do 15 jumping jacks and 10 pushups
15th- Count the number of Smith listings in the phonebook
16th- Play a boardgame with your family.
17th- Sweep the front porch and the driveway. Collect a kiss from mom for helping.
18th- Play "Follow the Leader" with the younger kids.
19th- Spruce up the house for mom
20th- Choose day
21st- Read a story into a tape recorder. Let the younger kids listen
22nd- Build a back yard tent willage with ropes, sheets, blankets. Sleep in them with Mom & Dad tonight.
23rd- make a purple cow with grape juice, milk and ice cream. Enjoy!
24th- Pioneer Day! Share a pioneer story with your family. Sparkler at night!
25th- Make a sandwich and cut it with a cookie cutter.
26th- Use a squirt bottle to practice your good handwriting on the sidewalk.
27th- Choose Day
28th- Take a nap under a shady tree
29th- Visit Dad at work at take a picnic lunch
30th- Write a spiral letter to a friend and keep it neat.
31st- Make cookies & take them to a teacher or a favorite neighbor.
August
1st- What do I need for school this year? Help mom make a list of things to purchase.
2nd- Eat some watermelon and count the seeds.
3rd- Choose day
4th- Have a family fire drill.
5th- Melt 1 pkg Chocolate Chips, add 1/2 c peanut butter, 2 cups cornflakes. Spoon onto wax paper and eat!
6th- Cutout big outline of your name. Find pictures to glue on that tell about you.
7th- A "trash contest"! How much litter can you pick up on your street in 15 minutes
8th- Have a punch & Popcorn sale. Count your $$$ and divide it between all the kids that helped.
9th- Free trip to 7-Eleven. Spend the $$$ you made yesterday
10th- Choose Day
11th- Count how many days there are left until school starts.
12th- Have a big backyard water balloon fight. Be sure to clean up the mess!
13th- Draw a shape and make it into a monster
14th- Play "Hang Man"
15th- Jog around the block with a friend
16th- Play "Red Light- Green light"
17th- Choose Day
18th- Buy some M&Ms and eat one for each page you read in a book today.
19th- "Cookies & Cream"--Hide a thin slice of ice cream between 2 graham crackers!
20th- Read a newspaper article. Write 5 facts that you learned.
21st- How many things can you make out of a circle
22nd- How many steps does it take to walk around the outside of your house?
23rd- Count the number of times you can hop on one foot without looseing your balance.
24th- Choose Day
25th- Play shadow tag. Instead of tagging the person, step on his shadow.
26th- Play the touch and guess game.
27th- Give everyone in your family a hug today.
28th- Play word associationg. What funny words did you end up with?
29th- How many ways can you say, "I love you!"
30th- Take a bubblebath. Time how long ittake to wash from your head to your toes.
31st- Choose Day
